Lend a Hand for Africa celebrates seven years of service to the scholarship scheme project.

Lagos, Nigeria – 7th February, 2022. Lend a Hand for Africa is announcing its celebration for the seventh year of the Scholarship Scheme Project. We are dedicated to giving children and young adults access to basic and quality education and to bringing a complete reform in their lives and on the community at large.

With two years of continuous commitment, LAHA has grown to become one of the few NGOs whose sole dedication and purpose is ensuring that every child in the slums is properly educated, given basic care and equal opportunity in life. Our initiative believes that quality education and care provide better experiences and opportunities for every child resulting to better outcome.

Since 2015 on the Scholarship Scheme Project and over ten years of operating as a Non-Profit Organization (formerly known as Bimbo and friends), Lahafrica has provided a flexible and amazing environment for children and young adults under our care to have access to education through payment of tuition fees, provision of daily meals, provision of school essentials and a platform to engage and interact with them outside of school which helps with interpersonal skills and trust between our team members and the beneficiaries. LAHA is uniquely designed to be a beacon of hope for children in the slums or with various impairment to dare to be different. We understand the menace of illiteracy in the system and how the ripple effect of being uneducated has led to prostitution, teenage pregnancy and cultism; this are few amongst many reasons on why we are willing to give our due diligence to reduce illiteracy to the barest minimum.

Currently, we have almost 20 children on the Scholarship Scheme and this is worth celebrating and beyond. We have various testimonies of how the lives of these young ones have improved tremendously. Our impact and success can be seen on how different, unique, intelligent our beneficiaries have turned out to be. By the grace of God, we have given them a reason to dream right and not be defined by the environment – this milestone is definitely worth celebrating.

Our long-term plan is to have more than 100 children on the Scholarship Scheme, have a LAHA service centre for Skills Acquisition and many more. We are determined to changing the narrative, the story and lives surrounding it. We want to build a home away from home for children and young adults in our care.

All of us at Lahafrica have an intentional support towards education issue and it’s our labor of love over the system and every in it, giving every child in the slums a structured and flexible access to quality education and opportunities, hence, improvement in way of life. We believe in this cause and we are proud of our milestone. Thank you.
